Finding God in Seasons of Change
There are seasons in life when you know change is coming. Sometimes you can just feel it and other times it is planned. Perhaps you're preparing for a new job, a move to a different city, a child leaving home, retirement, or simply a new chapter that God has placed on your heart. You can see the horizon shifting, yet you haven't quite arrived at the next destination.
That "in-between" space can feel unsettling.
One foot is planted in what has been familiar, while the other is reaching toward what is yet to come. It is easy to become consumed with the unknown. What if this doesn't work? What if I make the wrong decision? What if I'm not ready? What if I fail?
But what if we viewed change through the eyes of faith instead of fear?
Scripture reminds us:
"TThe human heart plans the way, but the LORD directs the steps." ~Proverbs 16:9
God never promised that change would be comfortable. Yet throughout the Bible, He repeatedly called ordinary people to step into unfamiliar places. Abraham left his homeland. Moses stood before Pharaoh. Ruth journeyed into a foreign land. The disciples left everything to follow Christ. They became the people God created them to be.
None of them knew every detail of what lay ahead. They simply trusted the One who did. The same invitation is extended to us today. Change is not simply something to survive. It is often God's invitation to grow. Here are three steps to help you through:
1. Prepare, Don't Panic
Instead of fearing every possible outcome, prayerfully consider your options. Gather information, seek wise counsel, and make a thoughtful plan. Preparation is an act of stewardship, not a lack of faith.
2. Align Your Heart Before You Take Your First Step
Before asking, "What should I do?" ask, "Who is God calling me to become in this season?" When our hearts are aligned with Christ, our decisions become clearer because they are guided by His peace rather than our fear.
3. Trust That God Is Already Waiting in Your Tomorrow
You are walking into a future that God has already seen. He is not surprised by the opportunities, the obstacles, or the blessings ahead. Every faithful step becomes part of the story He is writing through your life.
Moving Forward Through Change
Perhaps today you find yourself standing in the space between here and there. You don't have all the answers, and that can feel uncomfortable. Remember this:
God rarely reveals the entire journey before asking us to take the first step. Instead, He offers something even better, His presence.
As I prepare for my own season of change, I've realized that my greatest peace doesn't come from having every detail figured out. It comes from knowing that the God who has faithfully guided me in the past will continue to establish my steps in the future. So rather than fearing what's ahead, I choose to embrace it with hope. I choose to prepare with purpose. I choose to trust with confidence. And I choose to believe that every change God allows has the potential to become an opportunity for growth, service, and greater joy.
After all...
You were never meant to stay where you are forever. Sometimes God calls you to rise, align, and shine in an entirely new place.
