Influencing Domain of CliftonStrengths®


The CliftonStrengths® Talent Themes are grouped into four Domains: Executing, Influencing, Relationship Building and Strategic Thinking. In this post I will talk about the Executing Domain.


People with dominant Influencing themes know how to take charge, speak up and make sure the team is heard. Talents included in this domain are; Activator®, Command®, Communication®, Competition®, Maximizer®, Self-Assurance®, Significance® and Woo®.


People who are exceptionally talented in the Activator® theme can make things happen by turning thoughts into action. They want to do things now, rather than simply talk about them. They bring energy and momentum.


This talent on a team will help make things happen. They are not afraid to take risks. They need to be in a position to make decisions and make things happen.



People exceptionally talented in the Command® theme have presence. They can take control of a situation and make decisions.


This talent on a team brings decisiveness and emotional clarity. They have the ability to resolve conflicts and misunderstandings. They have presence and do not shy away from confrontation.


People exceptionally talented in the Communication® theme generally find it easy to put their thoughts into words. They are good conversationalists and presenters.


This talent on a team brings attention and focus to important messages. Not only can they find words for their own thoughts and feelings, but also for others’ thoughts and feelings.



People exceptionally talented in the Competition® theme measure their progress against the performance of others. They strive to win first place and revel in contests.


This talent on a team will help to inspire members to a higher level of performance. This talent strives to be the best and revels in contests.



People exceptionally talented in the Maximizer® theme focus on strengths as a way to stimulate personal and group excellence. They seek to transform something strong into something superb.


This talent on a team will bring focus on quality. They are committed to excellence.



People exceptionally talented in the Self-Assurance® theme feel confident in their ability to take risks and manage their own lives. They have an inner compass that gives them certainty in their decisions.


This talent on a team will help lead the way. They trust their own instincts, so they can forge ahead confidently. Their inner compass helps them manage their own lives.


People exceptionally talented in the Significance® theme want to make a big impact. They are independent and prioritize projects based on how much influence they will have on their organization or people around them.


This talent on a team will help to keep the vision in focus. They want to make an impact on other people or groups. They want to be admired.



People exceptionally talented in the Woo® theme love the challenge of meeting new people and winning them over. They derive satisfaction from breaking the ice and making a connection with someone.


This talent on a team will bring energy in strong social situations. They will act as catalysts in helping people connect with one another.


As you can see, each talent offers its own way to influence. They get heard and take charge! When you are building your team, you will want at least some of these talents represented. Keep in mind what they bring and what they need.
