Strategic Thinking Domain of CliftonStrengths®

The CliftonStrengths® Talent Themes are grouped into four Domains: Executing, Influencing, Relationship Building and Strategic Thinking. In this post I will talk about the Executing Domain.

People with dominant Strategic Thinking themes help teams consider what could be. They absorb and analyze information that can inform better decisions. Talents included in this domain are; Analytical®, Context®, Futuristic®, Ideation®, Input®, Intellection®, Learner® and Strategic®.

People who are exceptionally talented in the Analytical® theme search for reasons and causes. They have the ability to think about all of the factors that might affect a situation.

This talent on a team will bring the ability to consider all factors by asking questions and searching for answers.

People exceptionally talented in the Context® theme enjoy thinking about the past. They understand the present by researching its history.

This talent on a team provide a valuable insight to how the past will affect the future.

People exceptionally talented in the Futuristic® theme are inspired by the future and what could be. They energize others with their visions of the future.

People exceptionally talented in the Ideation® theme are fascinated by ideas. They are able to find connections between seemingly disparate phenomena.

People exceptionally talented in the Input® theme have a need to collect and archive. They may accumulate information, ideas, artifacts or even relationships.

People exceptionally talented in the Intellection® theme are characterized by their intellectual activity. They are introspective and appreciate intellectual discussions.

This talent on a team will serve as a sounding board to help others stretch to think in new ways.

People exceptionally talented in the Learner® theme have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. The process of learning, rather than the outcome, excites them.

This talent on a team will bring new facts and information through their process of learning.

People exceptionally talented in the Strategic® theme create alternative ways to proceed. Faced with any given scenario, they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues.

This talent on a team will find the best route moving forward by being creative, imaginative and persistent.

As you can see, each talent offers its own way to strategically move forward. When you are building your team, you will want at least some of these talents represented. Keep in mind what they bring and what they need.

Having team members with talents in all four domains gives you well-rounded thinking and engagement for success!
